Frequently asked questions

Wear it pink day is Breast Cancer Now’s flagship fundraising event. We ask people across the UK to hold a pink dress down or dress up day at work, at school or in your community. Everyone wears something pink and makes a donation to Breast Cancer Now.

Some people also hold a cake sale, organise a raffle, arrange a pink fancy dress competition or anything else that will help raise more money for breast cancer research. Whatever you do, do it in pink and do it for a price!

You’ll find ideas and materials to help you raise even more money in your fundraising pack and we’re always adding new ideas and downloadable materials to our website, so keep popping back to see what’s new.

Wear it pink day 2019 will be on Friday 18 October.

If you’re planning to hold your event on a different day, just let us know so that we can support you in the best way possible.

You can email us at wearitpink@breastcancernow.org or call us on 0333 20 70 300 to tell us the date of your event and any other information – we’re always here to help and would love to hear from you!

Gift Aid is a brilliant way of increasing the value of your donation at no cost to yourself.

Anyone who is a UK income tax payer can reclaim the basic rate of tax on their donation, which means that for every £1 donated, Breast Cancer Now will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that you have given.

It doesn’t cost you a penny more and the additional support will help to fund Breast Cancer Now’s vital work; making a difference to the lives of even more people affected by breast cancer.

So please pop your Gift Aid form with your collection box and remember to encourage everyone who donates to your wear it pink day to tick the Gift Aid column on your Gift Aid form and provide their full name, house number and postcode (home address only please).

To qualify for Gift Aid you must be a UK tax payer and pay an amount of Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax each tax year (6 April – 5 April) at least equal to the amount of tax that all the charities you donate to will reclaim on your gifts for that tax year. Other taxes such as VAT and Council Tax do not qualify.

If you are the wear it pink day organiser, please note that HMRC do not allow Gift Aid claims of one total amount that you have collected in and added to the form. Please encourage anyone who has donated to your collection to add their details to the Gift Aid form for the individual amount they donated.

To find out more about Gift Aid, visit the HMRC website.

You can let us know at any time whether you are eligible for Gift Aid or not by getting in touch with our Supporter Engagement Team:
