How you can get started now with wear it pink

Posted on May 29, 2020

Ordinarily, we would encourage you to organise a location or start putting up posters. In light of the current circumstances surrounding coronavirus, we appreciate that this isn't possible right now.

Right now, we don’t know what the world will look like in October. What we’ll be able to do. Who we’ll be able to go and see. But we know that breast cancer doesn’t stop for anything. And that Breast Cancer Now’s wear it pink day will continue to add the £35 million we’ve raised so far.

So, while we don’t know what wear it pink will look like this year, you'll need to follow government guidelines above all else and do what’s best and safe for you and your community, school or workplace in October. In the meantime, here are some things that you can do after you’ve registered to prepare for another fabulous wear it pink.

1. Send a save-the-date

One thing we know is that this year it will be held on 22 October, so it’s time to spread the word that you’ll be wearing pink and raising money for vital research and real support. Send out an email, text or invite to all of the people who you want to wear it pink with you. Tell them to keep the day free, and to expect some seriously fab pink outfits.

Can’t do 22 October? That’s totally fine, just pop us an email to let us know when you’re planning your event, so we can support you in the best way possible.

2. Set up a Just Giving page

Set up your wear it pink Just Giving page here. It’s one of the easiest ways for your friends, colleagues and families to donate towards your fundraiser, and it’s cash-free! Once you’ve set your page up, you’ll want to share it closer to the date of your wear it pink day.

3. Join our Facebook community

You can join our online Facebook community right now. It’s a great place to meet our fundraisers and hear all of their weird and wonderful wear it pink ideas! Your fellow-fundraisers often post photos and ideas of what works well for them, so it’s a great place to find inspiration.

4. Plan your pinkest outfit

There’s never been a better time to have a good look through your wardrobe. Perhaps there’s a long-forgotten pink tie in the back of your cupboard? Or maybe a tutu or superhero cape stowed in your kids’ fancy-dress box? It’s time to get creative and find your most fabulous wear it pink costume yet.

Hopefully these are some ideas which will help you get cracking with your wonderful wear it pink day. If you have any ideas on how you could prepare or on any creative ways of hosting a fundraiser – please do let us know, we love hearing from you!

Good luck!
