Virtual games for your wear it pink day

This year's virtual wear it pink has forced many of us to get creative with our fundraising. But just because we can’t pin the beak on the flamingo, or string bunting across your mates’ desks, it doesn’t mean you can’t have fun. Here are a couple of easy games we’ve come up with, for you to play online with your friends, family, colleagues or students.

The best part is that you can play all the following games while still wearing your pyjama bottoms. Hey, we’re not judging! To get you started - you’ll need to download our wear it pink virtual background, which can be used on video call platforms, and send out your editable e-invites.

1. Spice up your quiz

Let’s be honest, you’ve probably already done a couple of online quizzes since March, but this is your chance to do something extra special. If you’re stuck on where to start, you can use our 2020 Big Pink Quiz. If you’re willing to get a little creative, you could write your own quiz. We’ve put together a more detailed blog on how to take your quiz to the next level – check it out here.

2. A very pink category challenge

An excellent game to pay on a video call is a category game, but make it extra special by spelling out the word PINK. To play this game each person will need a pen, paper and one person will need a timer. The host should look up some ‘categories game’ lists beforehand, and have them somewhere visible, like a PowerPoint slide or document.

Pick the letter – P, set the timer and see how many things you can name on the list beginning with a P. At the end of the allotted time, go through your answers to see how many points you got for that round. If someone else has the same answer as you, then it’s no-point, but if you have an alliteration, you get extra points.

For example: Pinocchio gets 1 point, and Peter Pan gets 2 points. At the end, count up your points and see who the categorical winner is!

3. Charades

This is a party classic, and it’s super easy to do over video call! Make it extra challenging my asking everyone to choose things pink-related - think films and songs that feature the word ‘pink’.

4. Host an online class

Is there someone in your group who has a specific talent – like knitting, bread-making or yoga? There has never been a better time to learn a new skill, especially one that you can enjoy from inside your own home. Ask everyone to donate an amount to take part in your very own masterclass. Share what people will need in advance and then get going! Who knows, you may even find out about some secret talents that your friends or colleagues have, like making fresh pasta or hip hop dancing.

However you choose to fundraise this year, remember that you’re helping to make life-saving research and life-changing care happen.

And while your event may look a little different, you’re still a part of a community of people across the UK who are choosing to wear pink for everyone affected by breast cancer.
