Why is it so important to raise money?
What could my fundraising help fund?
THE SHORT ANSWER
Every year we ask you, and thousands of others, to wear it pink on a Friday in October – which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It’s an excellent way to have a fabulous time while raising awareness about this terrible disease, but it’s also a lot more than that. We ask people to raise money, to help fund life-saving breast cancer research, and our life-changing care.
THE LONGER ANSWER
At Breast Cancer Now we’re steered by our world-class research. By funding over 360 of the brightest minds in breast cancer research across the UK and Ireland, we’re discovering how we can prevent breast cancer, save lives and live well with the disease. Giving us the power to drive forward progress on a global stage.
To date, we’ve already invested over £243 million in breast cancer research. And we’re not about to stop. Right now, we’re funding over 80 cutting-edge projects to discover how we can change the future of breast cancer.
Want to read more about our research, including what we’ve achieved so far and how we’re targeting secondary breast cancer?
We want to be there for everyone affected by breast cancer, every step of the way. Through our helpline, we provide tailored information and specialist support to anyone affected by breast cancer or with queries about breast health. Callers include people who want to know more about the signs and symptoms of breast cancer; people who’ve been diagnosed with breast cancer, their families and friends; and healthcare professionals.
Our support groups, which we hope to get back up and running when it’s safe to do so, offer much-needed peer support and care. Our Someone Like Me service can put you in touch with one of our volunteers who can support you by telephone. You’ll speak to someone who’s finished their treatment and has been trained to help.
Our goal at Breast Cancer Now is that by 2050, everyone affected be breast cancer will live, and receive the support that they need to live well. By holding a wear it pink event and raising money, you’re helping us make that goal a reality. We are so thankful.
